Lack of sleep and energy

Posted by Chris Inch on Dec. 16th, 2005

There is nothing quite like working an 18-hour day, getting 5 hours of sleep, waking up and shoveling for 45 minutes and then driving back into work. Nothing quite like it at all.

Dear idiot

Posted by Chris Inch on Dec. 17th, 2005

To the idiot who decided to walk onto my driveway last night:

I hope that you impressed your friends with your ability to kick off my driver-side mirror. I hope that everyone got a good laugh, and perhaps high-fived you for your accomplishment.

Posted by Chris Inch on Aug. 25th, 2006

I'm well on my way to getting my black belt in Jiu Jitsu. Actually, I attended my first 2-hour class last night with Darryl from work. I'd like to start taking a martial art, but after trying Jiu Jitsu for the first time I'm not sure that it's for me.

LG Fridge Door Alarm

Posted by Chris Inch on Aug. 30th, 2006

Our new fridge was delivered last night. The delivery guys came and dropped it off. The fridge is fancy as can be: Stainless steel, bottom-mount freezer, energy efficient.... and a nifty feature called a "Door Alarm". Too bad it never stops beeping.

Shop at Asian supermarkets. Period. I just bought a new teapot at lunch. It's rad to the bone. Fancy paited tea pot with the little screen that filters out your tea leaves. $12.99. You just can't find deals like that anywhere else.

A tip from Inch's bathroom

Posted by Chris Inch on Oct. 6th, 2006

Have you ever been frustrated by condensation on your bathroom mirror when you get out of the shower? Are you annoyed when you wipe it off only to discover that you’ve now created streaks on your mirror, and the condensation just comes right back anyway? Django Upgraded

Posted by Chris Inch on July 20th, 2009

I finally took the time to upgrade to Django 1.0.2 and migrate my blog to the new release this weekend. Django 1.0 has a lot of improved features, including an upgraded comment system which has allowed me to re-enable comments on my blog.

There was a few speedbumps while upgrading, but everything is well documented at djangoproject.org so it wasn't too bad.

How to flip a mattress

Posted by Chris Inch on July 20th, 2009

Most mattress manufacturers recommend that you rotate your mattress to allow it to wear evenly and prolong its lifetime. This is especially important if you have a partner that you share your bed with. If you and your partner are different heights and weights, then you will need to rotate it to prevent it from getting too worn in some areas, but not others. The concept is not unlike rotating the tires on your car, allowing them to wear evenly as well.

So how do you flip a mattress? Do you flip it the long way, or the short way? What way did you rotate your mattress last time? This past weekend, I came up with an easy system that is pretty straight forward and will help you remember when and how to flip your mattress:

Inch's Masala chicken breasts

Posted by Chris Inch on Jan. 15th, 2010

I like to experiment while cooking. I like to throw ingredients together and see what happens. I don't usually write down my recipes, but this one was Heather-approved, so I thought I'd share it. Basically, it's a nice little rub or paste that you can spread on chicken to make it ultra-delicious.

Posted by Chris Inch on April 7th, 2010

I used to make prank phone calls with my cousin when I was in high school. Now that I'm surfing the Information Super Highway, I decided that pranking live chat agents is equally as funny. Whenever you're browsing the net and find a site with a Live Chat feature, simply pop it up and start chatting. Prank chatting is the new black. Click to read the conversation...

Big Al's Aquarium Services Ottawa

Posted by Chris Inch on Sept. 16th, 2010

Here's why I can never shop at at Big Al's Aquarium Services Warehouse Outlets ever again. I'll be brief, accurate and detailed.

For the past 3 years or so, I've had a 30-gallon aquarium in my office at work. It's a relaxing (often mesmerizing) element of my office that both myself and coworkers have enjoyed for years. I feed my fish every day when I get to work, and I've always done regular water changes and cleanings to keep my fish healthy and my tank looking good. That was, until I purchased fish from Big Al's...

I've seen a lot of those "pre-paid" credit cards in stores recently, and in the past year or so, I've actually received three of them as gifts.
